Finding an effect of way to eliminate debt is incredibly important and it is crucial that you take action as soon as humanly possible if your debt is substantial. This Herculean task may seem overwhelming, but it is very doable if you take the appropriate action. I am nearly relieved of debt and if you would have seen my financial statements just a decade ago, you would be amazed to see that I was able to do this.

I received my very first bank credit card when I was in university. This is probably the worst time to get credit due to the fact that you have your entire future in front of you and the prospects seem endless.  My thinking was that I could rack up charges now without warning about the ramifications because I could always get out of debt in the future. After all, surely after graduation I would land a great job that paid incredibly well... some familiar?

The credit cards kept arriving. You know how that goes, there's always a credit card offer in the mail.  They sure did come and handy while I was a poor student.  As a matter of fact, I took out a rather large cash advance to pay my tuition one semester.

It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. I was also able to afford those trendy fashions with my newfound riches. No worries, I would get out of debt once I hit the work force.

The great job was a little more elusive than I had first imagined it would be and by the time I was actually employed full time, I had accumulated quite a collection of bills. When I reached my mid-twenties, I fully realized that I desperately needed to get out of debt fast.

Unfortunately, there is no fix that allows an individual to get out of debt, unless of course you won the lottery.  You have to come to the realization that just as you didn't spend the money overnight, you will not be able to pay it back overnight either.

The good news is that there are actions you can take to eliminate debt and it won’t take quite as long as you had originally anticipated. The first thing you need to do is get off your butt and take action. Don’t wait another year or even another month.

The problem will not correct itself nor will it go away without you taking action.  Once you come to the realization that you require a plan, take action and do it before those nasty old habits overwhelm you.

Pay down the credit card with the highest interest rate first.  Never settle for just paying the monthly minimum.  It will literally take decades to eliminate your credit card debt paying this way. Make a list of your debtors. Then formulate a plan of action. This plan includes contacting the creditors.

You would be amazed at how many creditors will accept a payoff that is quite a bit less than your current balance. Oh, and stop using those nasty credit cards until the debt has been paid in full. This is absolutely a crucial step that must be taken if you want to get out of debt quickly.
